Southern Africa Conference
South Africa-- The First Southern Africa Conference for the Elimination of Mercury in Health Care took place in Johannesburg on October 24-25. Organized by the South Africa-based groundWork and Health Care Without Harm, in Association with UNEP it featured inspiring examples of health care systems switching to mercury-free health care.

June 10 2007 EU: The EU has passed a law banning the sale of mercury thermometers for use in healthcare. In future, there will be fewer mercury spills in hospitals and less environmental contamination from incorrect disposal of mercury thermometers. Read the HCWH press release here
